Part-Time Fire
- Responds to emergency calls; takes appropriate actions to minimize the loss of life and property.
- Assumes command of incidents until relieved by superior officer; determine strategies for emergency incident response; determines the need for additional personnel or equipment.
- Performs search and rescue, extrication, evacuation, suppression, ventilation, salvage, overhaul and other operations as needed.
- Provides patient care on emergency calls as a Medical First Responder.
- Operates fire apparatus to and from calls in a safe and timely manner.
- Operates apparatus at incident scenes according to procedures and practices.
- Inspects, tests, and cleans assigned vehicles and equipment; reports any hazards or maintenance issues to Station Shift Commander.
- Checks off equipment on apparatus, check and run small engines, run pumps, and drive apparatus per daily schedule.
- Inputs information related to incidents, apparatus reports, and training hours to related databases.
- Performs fire hydrant inspections and check.
- Responds to non-emergency service calls to assist the public.
- Performs fire hydrant inspections and check.
- Conducts pre-fire planning for businesses; identifies physical layout, hazards and contact information.
- Maintains station facilities and grounds.
- Presents and/or demonstrates fire safety techniques in the form of a program for groups at the fire station or for civic, church, and school groups at locations within the community.
- Attends training courses, monthly fire drills, and maintains State Firefighter Certification.
- Instructs and participates in training programs and activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council Act.
- Must reside within a 20 minute drive time to the fire station.
